i usually stay out of the Judaism threads, but this one bothers me and i have argued it with friends.
i do not consider "Judaism" to me my ethnicity. actually, i have no clue what that word is even supposed to mean these days. ask me my race? i'll tell you i'm human. ask me my religion, i'll tell you i'm pretty much an agnostic. my parents were practicing Jews, but if you asked them their ethnicity, they probably would have said American.
i had no problem with Brent Carver as Leo Frank since, guess what, there are fair haired Jews, dark haired Jews and even (gasp...) red haired Jews.
don't bother debating this with me, as i have had my say and won't be commenting again.
i didn't love DEH on stage and didn't make it through the movie, but i'm willing to give Mr. Platt the benefit of the doubt. when i read the casting, i thought Ms. Diamond would be playing Mary, as to my eye, she looks too young for Lucille, but i don't know how old that headshot is, so again, i'll be waiting to see how things parse out. |
