|Did nurses on South Pacific Islands during WWII historically take showers back then wearing bathing costumes as they did singing "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair"? Shouldn't it really be staged nude for verisimilitude? I'll forgo the actual group singing in the showers as a unit for now. It wasn't like "Take Me Out" where the guys are not wearing a stitch, which would seem to be the true costume. But what would the box-office scene look like if, in reaction to the video/photos of Jesse Williams appearing, the understudy board in the lobby said "At this performance, the role of Nude Showering Guys will be played by Guys in Bathing Suits"? I'd think a veritable multitudinous crowd would want their money back. Or at "Equus" without the nude scene played nude.
I didn't see Morrison and don't know if he had a treasure trail and was asked to shave or wax at the time by the director; he had left by the time I saw the "South Pacific", and the guy who replaced him gave a rather bizarre performance, one so distracting that I don't recall if his treasure trail was there or not.
Btw, did you start that original treasure trail thread? That's an ATC legacy honor right there!
Your 2nd paragraph does sum up nicely the gist of things, although I think the producers of "Funny Girl" might not appreciate your pull quote.
