According to The Sunday Times (UK), ALW has spent the weekend pleading with ministers to see if a compromise can be made in relation to theatre capacity. He is not alone....hospitality leaders across the country are going into meltdown and hoping for a compromise in their own sectors as well.

It is now a foregone conclusion that there will be a four week extension of the current rules until 19 July, likely to be announced either tonight or later tomorrow. This means shows can still play at 50% capacity but in doing so, certainly not make a profit and many would run at a loss. ALW is pleading for a 75% capacity allowance with all safety mitigations in place. Seems fair, especially as the recent trials with large scale crowds, sans regulations (but with proof of a negative test), seem to have not played a part in the escalation of the variant.
