You are confounding the manifestation of ALW's pernicious greed with the assessment of some here regarding the worth of his art. If Sondheim took a similarly embarrassing position, he would be condemned. People who are homicidal via their politics (see, e.g., David Koch as well as the ALW inchoately in this case) do not get a pass because they have done nice things for the arts. If ALW had owned a factory that spewed toxic chemicals into the environment that killed people, would you justify that by congratulating him for creating jobs? You can believe what you want but kindly own the immorality of what you are endorsing.
