I do not believe that what you say is accurate (other than the fact that Rudin's exit will make a big dent in theatrical prints advertising revenue in the Times) but I cannot conveniently prove it so I guess we will just have to agree to disagree about that. I also do not believe that there is a causal connection between the Tony related revenue and the paper's editorial coverage. I think we share a distaste for the editorial choices being made, but the fact is that the Tonys are by far the single most important theatre news story and the notion that it would not be heavily covered regardless of revenue is as incorrect as suggesting that the paper breathlessly covers the NBA playoffs because it drives major revenue from them.
