II completely disagree that they should find a "hosts whose Broadway cred comes mostly from untutored enthusiasm ". Who is he referring to? The past 10 years or so have seen bona fide Tony winners including Hugh Jackman, Neil Patrick Harris (who delivered 2 show stopping openers), James Corden, Kristen Chenoweth and Alan Cumming. And Sara Bareilles wrote and starred in a hit Broadway musical. He suggests Meryl Streep who hasn't been in a Broadway show since Jimmy Carter was president!
