But premium isn’t really about a show selling out, it’s about people willing to pay higher prices for seats in prime locations. Especially at a barn like the Broadway, where the front mezz feels a bit far away and the rear mezz may as well be on 7th Avenue, the theater could be only 70% full but folks are willing to pay premium to be close to the stage (though, ha ha, because the orchestra level is barely raked, those premium seats may wind up with a lousy view because of the people in front of you… I spent my first viewing of West Side Story with a head dividing the stage in two, and I was in what I presume is the premium section because I was with a Tony voter).
