Plus he's a wonderful Cornelius in the Shirley Booth film of "The Matchmaker" and could easily have played the musical version of that role, though by that time of the original "Hello, Dolly!" he was a bigger name from having already starred in "Psycho", other films and "Greenwillow" to take on the supporting role of "Cornelius" on stage. Plus they went even daffier/off-beat with the casting of Charles Nelson Reilly and Eileen Brennan for the original cast. Of course, Shirley Booth herself would have made a wonderful musical Dolly Levi, too! Or Judy Holliday! She was too sick by then, but oh wow!
