I don't regard the '92 film or the stage production as childish. I pretty much fell in love with the fantasy elements of the Disney films when I was a little kid. As an adult I have never lost my love for the better ones. I'm also a fan of the Arabian Nights genre so I'm probably a sucker for well done versions of Aladdin and his lamp. I don't thing you're missing anything by not seeing Aladdin on stage if you don't feel the way I do about the basic material.
