"I must've missed the part about the new music, lyrics, and book"

The previous poster referred to the upcoming MUSIC MAN as "another re-hash of this 'family production' production." Of course, what I meant is that this will NOT be a re-hash of a previous, existing production of the show -- for example, the very recent production at the Kennedy Center. It will be a new production of THE MUSIC MAN.

It's 100 percent accurate, and therefore the rule (or heretofore the rule!), to use the word "production" when referring to a particular mounting of a show -- the physical production under a particular producer, with a particular creative team -- and to use another word (such as "musical," "show," "play," etc.) when referring to the work itself, i.e., the book, music and lyrics. Is there some confusion on this point?

Also, I'm still curious as to what the previous poster meant by referring to THE MUSIC MAN as "family friendly" -- in quotes.
