Annaleigh Ashford definitely finds lots of laughs, and her theatrical bag of tricks is deep. But did you ever think she was experiencing anything in the play in the moment? Or that she was really in love? When I saw it we experienced a rain delay, and when they started up again they backtracked a dozen lines or so to get back into it. Her delivery changed not one inflection, not one centimeter. I give her great credit for her inventive clowning. But she could be truly great if she could marry that with real depth of feeling and in-the-moment sponteneity. My two cents.
