God Bless Eydie Gorme!....she had one of the most unbridled senses of humor I have ever witnessed....She was the Gracie Allen of pop singers....not an actress but what a glorious voice!
I agree that GOLDEN RAINBOW is a a real guilty pleasure and unlike some of the killjoys on this site lately......w/some shows like DOLLY......breaking the 4th wall can be a terrific special occasion. The last time I saw Bette she blew her 1st line in the last scene of Act 2....turned to the audience and said as much....marched offstage and re entered and said the line correctly to a rousing audience response!
I AM a theatre professional and there are just moments when it works brilliantly and should be enjoyed for the moment that it is!
Many many moons ago when I saw Sandy Duncan as Peter Pan...the flying didn't work right at the performance and she stopped the show and said to the audience"You paid too much money not to see this work right!"...it took 3 trys and when it did work right it was one of the most glorious audience approvals I've ever heard!
