I saw SPOON RIVER this past Sunday night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was well-staged and performed, and the bluegrass-fed score was entertaining and fit the source material perfectly. Regardless, the show is still SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY - so the crux of the show are the epitaphs written by EL Masters in c.1915. If you go in familiar with the source material and what to expect (and what not to expect: plot, etc.), then you should enjoy it. I will add that I've seen multiple incarnations of SPOON RIVER on stage over the years and this one was my favorite.
