In 1989, they weren't "fading" pop stars (they aren't now, either). They were just about as big an act as there was in Britain at the time.

As for "Losing My Mind", they recorded it with Liza Minnelli - and as a song choice, given her history, that makes sense. Their own version is a demo for the album they produced for her.
